Why do we end up with the wrong leaders?
Because we keep focusing on the person at the top.
That is the wrong place to look.
None of them got there alone. Every autocrat, every oligarch, every self-serving CEO, every Trump, Putin or Epstein needed a chain of people who excused them, cheered them, looked away, or couldn’t be bothered.
We fixate on the few truly bad people in the world — while it is their enablers we should address.
League of Adults is about those enablers. What makes them. And what we can do to stop them.
If you’ve ever watched someone completely wrong for the job rise to the top — and wondered ““Who on earth let that happen” — this is for you.
Who is Sissel?
I come from Norway. I have lived, worked and studied in 10 countries on 3 continents — which means I have seen an impressive collection of the wrong people landing the job.
🇱🇦 🇬🇷 🇬🇹 🇩🇪 🇰🇭 🇸🇪 🇳🇮 🇬🇧 🇲🇽 🇳🇴
From managers oscillating between tears and yelling in Sweden, UN figureheads not smart enough to obtain a university degree, to prime ministers needing paid rallies to “win” the election.
Their enablers are remarkably similar.
Other things you may want to know about me:
I care about everything that lives without a salary,
detest anything fake, and do not believe in any wizard in the sky.
I find injustice hard to sit with—a reason why I write about people who do.
Neither left nor right. If you can see the similarities between the extreme left and the extreme right, we have something in common.
Able to laugh at myself. The world would be a much better place if people could stop taking themselves so seriously.
Read a lot of books.
Favourite places: nature and historic pubs.
